Workshop

Where the dust and shavings get made!

Whilst a purpose built workshop would be ideal, like most wood turners, I have had to make do with a converted garage. The work area has to provide storage and safe work areas for all the machines, tools, jigs and materials along with storage for all those items procured but seldom used - they might be needed one day!

Dust is the biggest problem. One minute I could be making shavings on the lathe, the next repairing computer equipment or welding the latest invention or jig.

In addition to the usual array of hand tools, I had an engineering lathe, welding equipment, band saw, router table, bench saw, planer thicknesser, grinders, polishers etc. etc. Maintaining, servicing and upgrading all of this is almost a full time exercise in itself but I pride myself on not only 'making do' but also making most of my own kit.
